APS

Today’s planning and scheduling software is now capable of solving complex, multi-constraint problems and producing solutions that are optimised for the organisation. These software packages use more detailed models of the supply chain and production processes. They are able to take into account production run rates, machine maintenance and downtime, time variable constraints, changeover times and other realities of detailed production planning and scheduling.

Whilst this technology is indeed powerful, it is wise to be aware that with the power comes a responsibility to use it well. In reality, this means you need to feed it with accurate data (Garbage In = Garbage out was never more true) for your key constraints and production parameters. It must also be configured with the right weightings or costs to generate the optimal planning results for the business.

I have been implementing APS systems for the last 15 years and know from experience how to enable you to get the most from your APS solution for a true transformation in performance.
