Supply Planning

Supply Planning encompasses all aspects of planning that organise resources to deliver product to the customer. This includes the processes of Distribution Requirements Planning (DRP), Master Production Scheduling (MPS) and Material Requirements Planning (MRP and DDMRP). Depending on the situation there may be simple constraints applied to the planning solution either through manual intervention or through the planning software.

More advanced planning problems involving multiple constraints are managed through the use of APS software.

Fundamentally, Supply Planning is about having the right amount of product at the right place and at the right time to meet the demand from the downstream supply chain or customers. It involves aligning and
managing the supply chain to achieve cost effective production and delivery of product to meet the demand forecast.

Effective supply planning results in a low cost organisation with near zero waste and obsolescence, excellent customer service levels and appropriate investment in inventory. I can help you to decide appropriate inventory strategies, design effective planning processes and select and implement the best tools for supply planning to meet your company’s future needs.
