Demand Planning (including sales forecasting) is the process of collecting or projecting the anticipated future customer demand and converting it into information that can be used effectively by the supply chain organisation.

S&OP is the process of aligning and balancing resources and customer demand to enable the business to satisfy future growth targets. It enables timely decisions to adjust capacities in a cost effective way.
IBP is the completed organisation planning process that enables the business to make the best decisions for future financial performance and to execute those decisions through lower level planning processes.
APS uses detailed constraint and supply information to create plans and schedules that optimise production and supply activity. It enables planners to make complex trade-off decisions and balance priorities in multiple constraint situations.
Supply Planning includes all planning processes for distribution networks, production sites and materials suppliers. It decides how much is to be supplied and where and when deliveries are made.
Sales Planning provides the sales organisation with the tools to plan and execute sales actions (such as new listings and promotions) to achieve budgets and organisational goals. It shapes the future demand and sales turnover.
